Thursday Ministry

Friday, May 23, 2008—posted by Jim Milligan

Today we had the opportunity to visit with a couple of awesome ministries. First, we spent the morning with our friends, Kelle and Andrei Andries, directors of Sufficient Bread Ministry here in Petrosani, Romania. The Lord has blessed tremendously the work being done here in the name of the Lord. They are working with the local church, street kids, orphans, and with the Betana Orphanage here in Petrosani.

We had the opportunity this evening to visit the Betana Orphanage. It was a blessed time for all of us to visit with the 26 children. We all played games together and had the opportunituy to break bread and have supper together. Following are some pictures of our visit. Joshua had an absolutely fabulous time and the kids were enamored with him and Jonathan. While the orphanage gets, from time-to-time, visiting teams from foreign countries, they generally are always adults and not children.

On the Road to Petrosani

Thursday, May 22, 2008—posted by Kevin Otsuji

We began the day early in the morning by leaving Bucharest for Petrosani. We were blessed by a lunch break in Valcea (the half way point between Bucharest and Petrosani)--this is where Joey and Mihaela serve with Tim and Krista Hahne at the church in Valcea. We spent about four hours with the Hahnes and we were blessed to hear of all that God is doing in the church. The fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ half way around the world is always a joyful time. We enjoyed hearing about the growth of the saints that we have known for years. We also received news of those who are struggling and who are in need of prayer. At times like these, I always think of how the apostle Paul makes mention of the various saints that he remembers and he writes a testimony of God's grace upon their lives.

After a beautiful drive through the Transylvania Alps, we arrived in Petrosani. We enjoyed seeing Andrei, Kelle and Aryana in their new house. God blessed us with a magnificent thunder storm that we seldom see in Southern California. We are excited to have sweet fellowship with our missionaries and join in on their daily ministry activities. Pray that Christ is glorified and for our missionaries to be encouraged.

Romania--Finally Here!

Thursday, May 22, 2008—posted by Jim Milligan

We made it to Romania, finally! The plane left an hour late on Monday night and then an hour late from London to Bucharest. We got in about 12:15 a.m., early, Wednesday morning. One piece of luggage It was the baby stroller) didn't make it (it got stuck in London somehow).

All said and told, we got into the hotel in Bucharest at 2:00 Wednesday morning, about 18 hours after boarding the plane at LAX. And then up early to leave for Petrosani. Here's a map of the areas we will be in the next few days. We are going from Bucharest to Petrosani with a short stop in Vilcea to have lunch with the Hahne family. More details on that later. Here is a map of Romania with our expected visitation spots.

Romanian Time

Tuesday, May 13, 2008—posted by Jim Milligan

Since there is large time difference between us (on the U.S. Pacific Coast) and Romania, I have added a Romanian Clock on the sidebar. That way you'll know when we are sleeping and won't try to call us! Then again, knowing my father-in-law, he will probably purposely wait until 2:00 am Romanian time to place that call.

Getting Ready for Romania

Tuesday, May 13, 2008—posted by Jim Milligan

Eastern Europe

We are getting ready for the outreach to Romania, starting next week. We are going to be visiting Bucharest, Vilcea, and Petrosani. Well, who is the we you might ask? Our team consists of the following people:

  • Pastor Kevin Otsuji
  • Tasha Otsuji
  • Jonathan (J.D.) Otsuji (8 months old)
  • Pastor Jim Milligan
  • Rebekah Milligan
  • Joshua Milligan (7 years old)
  • Ruth Armstrong (Rebekah's sister)

We will be visiting our friends, the Hahne family, missionaries in Vilcea. They have a small church there and we will have the opportunity to minister to them and they to us! In Petrosani, we will be visiting the Sufficient Bread Family Centre, a ministry of our friends, Andrei and Kelle Andries.

We covet your prayers for this trip. We are leaving on May 19 and returning May 30. Specifically, that the Lord will, through the power of the Holy Spirit, enable us to minister effectively in His name to the people of Romania. And of course, for safety of the team, especially since we have two children on the team. And for my two younger ones who are staying behind with Grandparents and Aunties.

Reverence 'n Awe's First Posting

Tuesday, May 13, 2008—posted by Jim Milligan

Reverence Bible Church

Welcome to the first posting on the Reverence 'n Awe, a blog of Reverence Bible Church. We desire to talk about the LORD (God the Father, God the Son--Jesus Christ, and God the Holy Spirit), theology, religion, church-life, culture and whatever else might be applicable. Our goal (and hopefully we will always reach it), will be to do such in a God honoring manner and to have people worship God with reverence and awe.

The church's logo depicts a person (the nice flowing "R" for Reverence) kneeling in front of the cross of Christ and firmly on an open book, representing the Word of God. We desire to be Christ-centered and Bible-driven. We pray that as a church and hopefully those participating in this blog we fulfill that mission. We believe in a strong view of the Sovereignty of God and a strong call to evanglize the Gospel of Christ, calling people to believe upon Him for salvation.
